Fox News analyst Juan Williams credited House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) on Fox News Sunday with taking on the obstructionist elements of the Republican Party, particularly over immigration reform.

Earlier this week, Boehner mocked members of his caucus who fear a vote on immigration reform, a parody of a piece with his previous criticism of groups like Heritage Action that he felt were pushing purist conservative goals over plausible legislation.

“I think Boehner feels there’s a window of opportunity, June/July before the August recess, where he can get something done, and he wants, as speaker, to have some accomplishments for the Republican caucus in general,” Williams said.

“He has gone after people he thinks don’t understand that politics is about winning. He wants to win,” Williams continued. “From my perspective, he’s not the only one mocking these people who are obstructionists and intransigents on the Republican side. And I take my hat off to John Boehner. I think he’s calling his party out in a way that’s very responsible.”

“I’m sure he’s going to be very appreciative of your endorsement,” host Chris Wallace said.
