Joe Scarborough compared Rep. James Comer to Green Acres’ character Fred Ziffel while brutally mocking the House GOP’s impeachment inquiry.

Morning Joe viewers who tuned in Friday morning for a quick jolt of schadenfreude were not disappointed to see its host have a field day with House Republicans “making fools of themselves” in Thursday’s impeachment inquiry hearings focused on President Joe Biden that failed to produce any clear evidence that connected the president to anything criminal.

“It’s really incredible, and we’ve been talking about for some time about how this has been the gang that couldn’t shoot straight,” Scarborough opened. “They’ve been promising one thing after another. Nothing has happened.”

“The fact that you would actually get people on — that have actually been on Donald Trump’s side through most of his presidency, you know, constitutional scholars who say, you got nothing here,” he added. “You wonder the degree of incompetence that would have a chairman of any committee calling somebody who, again, is going to actually undermine your case.”

Scarborough said before introducing a series of clips of James Comer appearing on cable news programs and ostensibly admitting he has no evidence.

Coming out of the montage, Scarborough proclaimed, “It’s better than “Green Acres. It is! You don’t have Arnold the pig,” Scarborough said about the porcine character that was owned by Fred Ziffel, whose downhome style is somewhat similar to Comer’s mien.

“It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad,” Mika Brzezinksi opined.

“You know, Mika, it would be funny if …oh wait, Scarborough replied. “It is funny,” to which his wife and co-host insisted, “no.”

“It’s ridiculous they’re making fools of themselves, Scarborough added. “You don’t think the Biden White House is loving watching this. This is — this is just — and they keep doing it.”

After Jonathan Lemire reported on real anger within the House Republican Caucus for the abject disaster that the hearing appeared to be, Scarborough said, “There’s nothing there.”

“If there is something there, hold it till you got it and display it and prove it,” he concluded.”They’ve got nothing. They know they’ve got nothing, so they keep humiliating themselves.”
